Abstract
Micromorphological studies of reclaimed solonchakous solonetzes at the Dzhanybek Research Station with a sampling interval of 20 years are carried out to evaluate recent trends in the development of pedogenic processes in these soils. Soil microfabrics and composition and, particularly, salt pedofeatures are shown to be sensitive indicators of processes and conditions at the interface between the bulk solid soil and the porous volume. For the reclaimed solonetzes, it has been found that their arable horizons became more homogeneous; the diversity and amount of calcareous and gypsiferous pedofeatures in the soil profiles decreased, and the ameliorative effect became more pronounced after 20-year reclamation.
