Scientific research conducted by the V.V. Dokuchaev Soil Science Institute is directed to solve fundamental problems of soil science combined with definite applied problems relating to the improvement of the soil productivity, efficient use and protection of the soil resources to be able to advance the agricultural production.
The most actual scientific problems of the Institute are the following::
- Fundamental investigations with the use of up-to-date technologies in studying the trend and intensity of recent soil processes in natural and anthropogenic landscapes.
- Elaboration of theoretical and methodical grounds for analyzing and estimating the status, monitoring and use of the soil resources in Russia.
- Elaboration of methods for monitoring over soils and the environment with the view of projecting the adaptive-landscape systems and measures to protect and improve the fertility of agricultural soils
- The Institute organizes seminars, meetings and conferences to solve acute problems of soils science, popularize and apply the achievements of soil science into the practice of agriculture.
